Des Plaines, Ill. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Prominent Chicago artist Darryll Schiff will provide insight on how to grow a professional art career at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines, Room 1608. The Visiting Artist Series event is free and open to the public.

“Within a few short years of his decision to focus solely on his fine art career, Darryll has become an internationally recognized artist,” Oakton Chair of Art and Design Lou Pierozzi says. “His works appear in the collections of many private collectors and in leading museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Darryll will discuss how his career skyrocketed through studio visits, branding and hard work.”

Schiff’s success in the art world came after a lucrative career in commercial photography. His list of celebrity clients included Téa Leoni, Mark Harmon, Jason Patric, Jasmine Guy and Jada Pinkett Smith. His artwork has been exhibited internationally in art fairs in South Korea and Indonesia. His massive 24-by-56 foot mural, “Descending to Heaven,” was recently unveiled in the famous Wabash Arts Corridor of Chicago. In addition, two of his works, “Descending to Heaven – The Parade Commences” and “Descending to Heaven – Belief Persists I,” are located at the college’s Des Plaines campus.

The Visiting Artist Series is hosted by Oakton’s art department and made possible by a generous grant from the Oakton Educational Foundation.
