A fun and educational way for students to learn and earn college credits while traveling the world, is by studying abroad. Humanities professor Peter Hudis said, “It is the experience of a lifetime.”
Study the history and cultures of Hyderabad, India for the one month summer semester that will earn students six college credits. It provides cultural visits, field trip excursions, tutorial assistance, tuition, onsite library and study areas. With housing and a full meal plan included all at a cost of $2,200.
On campus many students would love to study abroad but cannot afford it. Second year student Alexandra Andricopulos said,“It’s my dream to study abroad, I think it is a fun and unique way of learning, I would love to take part in it if I only had the money to do so.”
The campus is aware of the price and know that many students cannot afford this travel, but students can apply for financial aid and scholarships up to $1,000 to help pay for their abroad studies.
Global Studies program coordinator Katherine Schuster said,“Most of the students who participate in the program all received support from financial aid and scholarships. We are very grateful. If there was no help offered for these students, a trip would be a struggle to book.”
To apply for the Hyderabad, India trip students must have completed at least one semester of college, completed English Composition 101 with a C or better and must have a GPA of 2.75 or above.
Applications can be found on the campus website and must be handed in by Feb 15, 2019 to Global Studies coordinator Schuster.
If students think that being away from home for one month is too much for them and would like to study abroad for a shorter period, than they should apply for the upcoming Cusco, Peru trip.
Students who apply for the Cusco, Peru trip will earn three college credits and study the educational system of the Andes, visit Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas for two weeks in June.
Hudis visited Peru two years ago with a fellow colleague. He said,“ Peru, the country has so many great qualities from the culture, to the people and most importantly the best food. I think the students will enjoy studying abroad in Peru.”
The trip to Cusco, Peru provides international airfare, tuition, housing, meals, major field trips, culture activities and health insurance all at a cost of $2,988. Students must have completed at least one semester of college, completed English Composition 101 with a C or better and have a GPA of 2.75 or above. Application for the Cusco, Peru trip also due by Feb 15, 2019.
“Students and faculty always have a great time studying abroad, it is a great way to make new friends, travel the world and earn a college degree. Studying abroad is a great real world experience,” said Schuster.
